Practices: The team practices Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm at the North Campus Turf Field. We are willing to work with you in regards to your class schedule, exams, jobs, etc, but players are expected to prioritize these practices. If you have a demanding schedule or are concerned about conflicts that you think may prevent you from playing club soccer, contact our captains or speak with them during tryouts, and we'll see what we can work out.
Season: The season begins in September, as we play weekend league games against other colleges and universities in the Northeast, primarily throughout upstate New York. We are competitive within our league, and historically advance to the Regional Tournament and have advanced to the NIRSA National Tournament consistently. This tournament is held mid-November in rotating locations around the United States (past years' were located in Austin, Texas, Foley, Alabama, Phoenix, Arizona, and Memphis, Tennessee).
Cost: Cornell Women's Club Soccer is allocated a small budget by the university, but it will not cover all the necessary costs of tournament fees, equipment, transportation, and jerseys, in addition to the airfare and hotels that follow a bid to the National Championships. Once a player makes the team, they will be asked to pay a membership fee of approximately $375. The exact amount changes from year to year, depending on how much funding we receive. Prior to our trip to Nationals, we also lead fundraising efforts to offset a percentage of the cost.
Eligibility: All members of a team must be enrolled three-fourths of full-time enrollment as an undergraduate or six credits as a graduate student at the institution they represent for the semester.
Current professional players, NCAA, or NAIA varsity players (2017-2018) are not eligible to participate.
Teams are limited to no more than three players that are either former varsity soccer or former semi-pro soccer players on their roster. A varsity athlete is defined as: A student who by definition of any university athletic program has been listed on the school's active varsity roster for the college/university team in at least one scheduled season. The exception to this rule will be students whose only year of activity was as a redshirt. They will not count as a former varsity athlete, provided that the redshirt year does not fall within the current activity year.
All participants will be eligible for six consecutive years of eligibility in the NIRSA Collegiate Sport Club Championships. Year one begins the first year your name appears on a NIRSA roster or the first year your name was listed on the roster of any varsity team.
